Radio Sign Installation Instructions

Radio Sign Installation Instructions

The following are the instructions for assembling the HolidayCoro radio frequency signs.

Prepping

When you receive your Radio Sign it may have small "hairs" along the edges of the sign.  While these are not generally visible in once the item is installed in your display, if you wish to remove these "hairs" you can use 80 grit sandpaper and sand along the edges of the tree.

The assembly of the sign will occur from the back side - so, when you are laying out the grid or inserting the lights, the "TUNE TO" text should instead read "OT ENUT".

Marking the Grid
To make assembling your sign easier, we recommend marking theback side of the sign with a grid.  Your sign may already have the grid marked on the back, of not the sign will contain notches cut along the side and bottom edges of the sign.  Using a straight edge or long ruler and a marker - mark from the notch on the edge through the row of holes.

If there are not notches along the side of the sign, use the bulb population chart to determine the spacing and quantity of bulbs per number and then using a straight edge and a marker, mark the lines between the "pixels" used to make up the number.

Marking out the numbers and installing the lights

Now that you have your grid marked on the back side of the sign, you can mark which bulbs should be populated with lights and which should not.  Note that some of the pixels may not have all the bulbs populated.  Using the chart provided with your arches (see links below), mark a border around the sections of lights that should contain bulbs - remember to put your numbers on the sign backwards - reading from right to left.  We also recommend putting hash marks through any section that should not have lights just so that it is completely clear where the lights should and should not go during insertion of the lights into the coro.

You are now ready to install the lights.  We recommend installing the lights into the "TUNE TO" section first and then moving down to the numbers section.  If you have extra channels on your controller, we recommend that you populate the "TUNE TO" on a separate channel from the numbers.  Next, insert the lights into the sections marked earlier.  Be sure to flip the sign over ever dozen or so lights to make sure that none of the holes have been missed.  The total number of bulbs required is as follows:

18" x 24" / 1xx.x Radio Sign 18" x 24" / xx.x Radio Sign

If you should have any lights left over after assembly, just zip-tie them to the existing wire behind the display in an area where there are currently already bulbs populated to prevent the lights from showing through the unused holes.

Mounting the Radio Sign in your display

18" x 24" Radio Sign
To mount this sign, you can either purchase a standard 18"x24" sign frame which can be found at most major hardware stores in the "For Sale" sign section, usually near the hardware section.  Please be aware that on some sign holders that you will need to insert the lights into the coro while it is mounted in the frame.  If you cannot insert the coro into the frame with the bulbs attached, install the bulbs after the coro is in the sign

Another alternative mounting method is to build a wood frame.  We designed the frame with a .7" outside boarder to allow .5" wood to be used.
